Trees & Shrubs

Trees provide the basic structure for an effective landscape plan.  In addition to framing and serving as an attractive background, trees conserve energy by providing summer shade and reducing the severity of winter winds.

When selecting trees, you need to consider size, hardiness, form, growth, tolerance of soil, water needs and maintenance requirements.

Shrubs, with their almost unlimited variety of sizes, shapes and colors, add a distinctive touch and enhance your landscape.  Carefully selected shrubs are ideal as a beautiful way to blend the yards of homes into their surroundings.  In addition to their aesthetic value, shrubs provide privacy and a feeling of security.

Perennials vs. Annuals

Flower perennials are typically non-woody plants that die to the ground in the fall and come up again in the spring.  For the sake of simplicity, a number of evergreen types are often included in this definition.  Perennials are defined as plants that live three years or longer.  Annuals, conversely, are non-woody plants that only live for one growing season and have to be replaced each and every spring.

Perennials can be planted alone in beds and borders or combined with annuals and woody plants in areas such as foundation plantings.  Certain low-growing perennials make effective ground covers.

    • County Wide did an unbelievable job to the front of our ranch home. They basically transformed the look of the entire house.     • These guys are the real deal! Their operation is very professional…Communication about your project all comes from the office manager…Rhonda…who was awesome and very responsive in my project. These guys knocked out my patio and pergola installation in the fastest time frame possible given weather and permit inspections. I get the feeling this company is big enough that they dedicate crews by project…so you don’t have to worry about them trying to juggle several projects at one time…meaning they don’t leave you hanging for days or weeks because they over-committed themselves! But alas…the final product. I am not easy to please, but my expectations were exceeded! Brian created a pergola design that I never would have thought of…so cool! My project manager Angel was great to work with. He listened to everything I said and came through with everything. I was prepared and ready to accept that something would get missed but I was pleasantly surprised. I guess I may have gotten lucky with the crew that did my project, but I can just only review based on that. I highly recommend!

    • Awesome Design! Last Fall Countywide put in a new driveway and walkway at my home in Geneva. The job was completed in 1 day and 1/2- the neighbors couldn’t believe it! I constantly get comments and good feedback on how great it looks. This spring they are installing a water feature to compliment the new walkway- can’t wait!
